Preliminary eligibility

A promising intervention needs more than lower emissions.

Eligibility depends on the applicable programme and methodology, project timing, regulatory context, additionality, baseline quality and a credible monitoring approach.

01

A defined project activity

You can explain what is changing, where it is happening and how it differs from the existing baseline technology or practice.

02

A supportable baseline

Historical fuel, electricity, production or activity records are available—or there is a credible path to reconstructing them.

03

Additionality can be tested

The intervention is not simply a legal obligation, business-as-usual replacement or already claimed under another carbon programme.

04

Monitoring can endure

Meters, invoices, operating records and responsible staff can sustain data quality over each monitoring period.

05

Timing has not undermined eligibility

Project start and commitment dates are documented so the relevant programme rules can be assessed before registration work begins.
